Miami ranked Top 10 in connectivity among major global cities and Top 25 in foreign direct investment strategy

(Miami, FL - Dec. 8, 2014) -The Beacon Council announces Greater Miami's Top 10 ranking in connectivity among major global cities and a Top 25 region in foreign direct investment (FDI) strategy, according to fDi Magazine's Global Cities of the Future Awards released today.

Miami ranked #10 in connectivity among Major Cities and #24 in FDI strategy among Regions. The publication used data sets including economic potential, business friendliness, human capital and lifestyle, cost effectiveness and connectivity. The Beacon Council cited recent investments when completing the survey on behalf of Miami-Dade County.

  • PortMiami's $1 billion Tunnel project
  • Port Miami's 50-foot deep dredge project making it ready for Post-Panamax ships in 2015
Larry K. Williams, The Beacon Council President & CEO, said more than 40 percent of the companies assisted last year represent foreign direct investment and many local companies locate and expand in Miami-Dade because of its status as a global business destination.

"Miami-Dade County continues to be recognized as a premier location for foreign commerce and international connectivity," Williams said. "Recent multi-billion dollar investments in infrastructure are paying dividends. We are at the forefront of moving people, goods and data."
